Katy Perry Calls 'Who You Love' 'More Authentic' Than Kimye's 'Bound 2'
Between the desert settings, autumnal cinematography and cuddling atop machinery, the videos for "Who You Love" and Kanye West's "Bound 2" certainly have some things
in common. So, do John Mayer and Katy Perry see the similarities?
Well, Perry addressed that when she and Mayer stopped by "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" on Friday (December 20).
"I thought our response was a little bit more authentic because my hair was blowing in the right direction though," Perry joked about their video and "Bound 2" featuring West and Kim Kardashian. And for those wondering which video was shot first, Mayer confirmed that they filmed "Who You Love" two weeks ago.
Before John joined her for the chat, Perry opened up about her on-again, off-again, very much on-again relationship with Mayer, who she first started dating in 2012. "When there's two people involved, you have to figure out a compromise in a good way," she said. "And there's a lot of respect and I really adore him and respect him as a musician, that's why I was very excited to do a song with him."
"We have a lot of fun," Katy also shared about their relationship. "You know, we have music as an understanding and love between each other and we connect and you know it's like he understands what I do because he does the same thing. And so after a long day if it's been tough I don't really have to go into it — he just gets it. You know, so it's nice with that understanding."
And with Christmas just days away, both Katy and John confirmed they they've gotten each other presents, but wouldn't reveal what those gifts are. "To me the best Christmas gift is a thoughtful one," Katy said. "It's not just a label or a thing. We do stocking stuffers."
