Who Was The Best Movie Couple Of 2013? You Decide
Every year's crop of movies has its scandals and its triumphs, its box office smashes and flops, its unforgettable villains, so-so good guys, also-ran supporting characters and everything in between. When it comes down to it, though, aren't movies, like life, all about the love? (We'll pause here for you to swoon appropriately. You done? Great.)
That said, even when we're talking about love, we can't help but add an element of competition to it. Who's the very best at love?
Since nobody knows better than our faithful readers, we're putting the verdict in your hands. You've seen the movies and eyeballed the thespians -- who was the best movie couple of 2013? Did Katniss and Peeta make your heart catch fire? Did you think Clark Kent and Lois Lane were just super? Scope the contenders below, then make your pick by casting a vote in our poll.
Katniss And Peeta, "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire"
There's a reason all of Panem is obsessed with these two. The Girl on Fire and her earnest co-champion Peeta have something of a doomed quasi-romance as they enter the arena for the second time in a row. Are these two the champions of your heart?
Katniss And Gale, "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire"
Oh, Gale. Poor, lovesick Gale, stuck wandering in the woods while Katniss makes out with Peeta on TV and then makes out with Gale on the streets of District 12. What's a handsome hunter to do? Did Gale and Katniss pierce your heart this year?
Percy Jackson And Annabeth, "Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters"
There's no pulling a golden fleece over our eyes: These two are great together. Some could even call their chemistry godly, their love immortal. Would you brave a sea of monsters to go to bat for these two?
Jesse And Celine, "Before Midnight"
A love story so epic, it needed three movies ("Before Sunrise" and "Before Sunset" came, well, before) to run its course. Is Jesse and Celine's the ultimate romance, or have you seen it before?
Danny McBride And Channing Tatum, "This Is the End"
The surprise duo of the year, we have to admit there's something a charming about the alter egos of McBride and Magic Mike himself finding love. If you haven't seen the movie, we don't want to spoil anything, but suffice to say their love is passion unleashed. What do you think?
Theodore And Samantha, "Her"
It's a little bit creepy, it's a lotta-bit heart-melting. Did the technologically fueled romance between Joaquin Phoenix's Theodore and A.I. Samantha, his personalized operating system (Scarlett Johansson), charge your batteries this year?
Superman And Lois Lane, "Man of Steel"
In the great historical roster of beloved romances, Superman and Lois Lane probably falls somewhere between Romeo and Juliet and Harold and Maude. We already know you love them, but our question is this: Do you love this version of them? Did the Man of Steel steal your heart?
Gatsby And Daisy, "The Great Gatsby"
Hasn't Jay Gatsby ever picked up "She's Just Not That Into You"? Take a hint, man. Still, there's something to be said for yearning, building an entire false backstory to try and win your past ladyfriend back and spending a heck of a lot of time staring at a green light off in the distance. Do you think Daisy and Gatsby's romance is great?
